Saw a Colt at a local gun shop. It is marked : "COLT CUSTOM COMP" IN .45 acp. The finish looks like stainless, but I think it is brushed nickel/chrome. It has adj. sights and trigger, 98%+ finish and looks un-fired except for factory testing?? NO box though. I can not find it in any of the Blue Books, old or new edition. The fellow says he was told they only made around 200 of them, and they were most likely special order, so not many were the same. He wants $1250 for it. Any ideas of what it could be? $$$$ worth? Sorry no pic's of it.

Since it is at a gunshop get its SN and call Colt. Also take a picture of it with a digi cam. One picture is worth a thousand words as the old saying goes. Post the picts here. I would also look inside. There is a thread on this site for buying a used gun. Read it.

Actually I think that that run was made for Lew Horton and it is 1 of 350. If I'm correct and my sources are right it is from 1998 and had a introduction price of $889. Lew Horton subcontracts special editions that they sell Combat Python, Custom Cobras etc. :)

I have seen several early XSE's rolled marked Colt Custom on the slide. My guess would be it's one of those. as far as price pass. Some had sold on gunbroker recently for under a grand.... ;)
is what I thought you were refering to.

Lots of guns never make it into the books or catalogs.
It may be finished in hard chrome.
For an unusual item such as this in possibly unfired since factory condition, it might be worth that much, but only to someone that is willing to buy it for that figure. I've seen some guns go for crazy prices.
If you like it well enough..............maybe it's worth that much. It's not something that can be found easily and certainly not in production anymore.
Just don't let Hunter find out where it is ;)!

Hunter would only go crazy if it were a Gold Cup. He loves all Colt's, he's a maniac when it comes to the Gold Cup.
