Sights

Picked up my 1911 a few weeks ago. Love the gun but I just cant get used to those sights. I guess it makes it hard when all my other guns have the traditional sights. Any tips on these sights?

Thanks for the link Rich-D,I wouldnt mind picking up a pair of those sights for my Pt 1911.Looks like a very good option to have,especially if you wear glasses,as i do most of the time.

I would get the rear sight plain, the front a nite site. It appears to be faster that way. Or if you are on a budget you can just paint the front sight.

$30 for installation I wonder if they realize they may have to cut new dovetails. If that price includes dovetails it is a very interesting sight for tactical use. I'm not sure how well the rear sight would work from a concealment holster.

If you want really good bright sights that work in all light conditions look at TruGlo TFO sights they are the brightest sight I have ever seen. I have them on both of my carry guns and they show up just as bright during the day as at night.

Should any standard 1911 site work for the Taurus?

Taurus has their own sight cut dimensions, as a lot of other manufactures do also. So there really isn't a "1911" standard sight cut. Heinie now has more sites available for the PT1911 and Novak is working on Taurus sights (don't know if they are available yet). I've read that some of the other sight manufactures are starting to carry sights in the Taurus cut. Just ask the manufacture.
