O.K.. who make a GI wide spur style hammer? I currently have a Masen hammer installed on my SA Mil-Spec... but I've been told that the Masen parts are of questionable quality... anyone have any input?

Kings makes a pretty good replica of the GI hammer. I haven't tried one yet but anything has got to be better than a Masen. It's the #505 hammer: http://www.kingsgunworks.com/newcatalog/page07.html

I have used 6 Kings Wide Spur Hammers and they are the best available.

Unfortunately Kings stopped making that hammer a year ago. I have no idea why, especially when the "mil-spec" look is really in full swing at the moment.

As for Masen, here's another vote to stay away. I just can't figure out why on Earth a company that makes its living as a machine shop can't seem to drill simple holes in the right places!

Check 45gunparts.com, they might have what you are looking for.

Why not get original Colt ones? I've found several at gun shows. Look for the guys with lots of parts boxes. You might have to look through a bunch of boxes, but they are worth it.
