A good friend emailed me saying he has some problems and he is selling guns. He knows I love the USGI's so he asked if I was interested in his Ithaca. Today I bought it from him.

I won't say what I paid. It was a "friends price" and a fraction of it's $$ value. Reguardless, it is priceless and will not be sold.

Did you swap grips for some of the pictures the correct ones would be the Keyes with the reinforcing rings around the grip screw holes? The trigger is one of the milled type and is a replacement as well as the barrel. Is the H&R barrel chrome lined? The pistol appears to have an OG stamp near the serial number, indicating it was rebuilt at the Ogden Arsenal in Ogden, UT at some point and would explain the parts mixture. The finish looks consist throughout and is likely an original arsenal rebuild.

Yes. I knew the grips that came with it were wrong, however I had some Keyes on my other pistol and put them on. Forgot to mention that.

Typically there will be a visible border at the muzzle and on the chamber hood lip. It should clean up mirror bright as well. It is my understanding that H&R produced some chrome lined barrels under DOD contract. The chamber hood lip very bright in the pictures that is why I asked.

Nice Ithaca, stoneypete. And getting it from a good friend makes it even more special.
