Can some of you give me an idea of the price range these can be found in?
Also what is the difference between the XSE and XS? Which is the better one to have?

The XS was the forerunner of the XSE, had a few minor differences in features.

Can anyone tell me what the minor differences are. I am thinking about getting one or the other.

I think the differences are in the rear sight, grip safety, thumb safety(single sided) and trigger. They were almost a transitional model around 1990/1991---This one was made in 1990 per Colt. You'll be kinda hard pressed to find an XS model anymore whereas the XSEs are still being made or are a lot more plentiful.

I am pretty sure that's an Enhanced Combat Commander--I have 2 stainless and a Lightweight blue. Note the sights and "duckbill" grip safety plus the plastic trigger and lack of front serrations.

If the serial number ends with an "E" does that mean it is always an "enhanced" model?

I bought my XSE LW Commander last year from budsgunshop.com. It was a smooth process. I did make a few changes in it to officially make it mine. This included a few Wilson parts, including grip safety and thumb safety. I also changed grips and magazines.

And someone changed the grip screws, it should have blued allen heads with rather small sockets...
Or mine and all of the ones that I have seen do...

Here is my XSE LW Commander before I made any changes to it. A six shot group at 22 yards; one handed. All my XSEs are quite accurate. Since I carry it I put a smaller non ambi thumb safety on it, lost the flgr for a traditional guide and plug, and replaced the wood grips with some comfy checkered plastic ones with slotted screws. When I stop carrying it I will put it back the way I bought it. That will happen when I find an older blued LW Commander in good shape at a good price.
