My wife and I share the same Springfield Loaded. Her shooting is improving, but she has small hands so I am thinking a short trigger might help her. I am looking at an STI carbon fiber short trigger and a short match trigger from Cylinder and Slide. I would like some input on short triggers and recommendations on a "good" short trigger.

Thanks

I have very limited experience here, but I like the two Wilson #190S (short) triggers I've installed in a pair of Gov't Models. Some minor fitting required on the pad was all that I needed to do as opposed to the "drop-in" triggers.

I've used the solid, alloy, short aluminum match trigger made by Greider Precision (or one like it when they were made by Videki or sold under the Kings lable) in all my 1911s. It seems to work quite well. It's available from Brownells (http://www.brownells.com/ -- stock number 377-000-004).

The Cylinder and Slide trigger looks similar, but according to the Brownells catalog has a smooth face. I've never tried a smooth face trigger on a 1911, so I can't really comment on that feature. I think, however, that I'd be inclined to stick with the usual serrated trigger face.

It's been my experience that any trigger will require some fitting. General, some small amount of material will need to be taken off the top (and sometimes the bottom) of the trigger pad.

The short fiber sti trigger is the lightest of the group.

There aren't any bad ones - Colt/GI is a good place to start.

For what some would call a step up and others consider a step down I have one from Dane Burns - overtravel stop on the grip safety and I would have one from Dave Berryhill with fixed overtravel, no adjustment screw, stop on the magazine release but his move has delayed shipping until maybe early April. It would be a special but if the two users grip differently enough perhaps a flat face as done by EGW or Hilton Yam would be nice - available from stock only in a longer pad though.

If I wanted a short trigger, I'd get a Greider.
