Trigger slack?

I just replaced my trigger group with a drop in Nowlin set. This included the hammer, sear and disconnector. I replaced the Trigger with A CMC lightweight. Now there is about an eighth inch or more of travel before the trigger does anything. I adjusted the overtarvel screw so that when it does connect it does not overtravel.
Also, once in a while after firing a round, the trigger does not rebound on its own and so will not fire again until I pull it forward some.
Does anybody have an idea of what is happening and how to fix?
I have a colt frame and Remington Rand slide.

The new trigger may not be tweaked as your old one. compare all parts of the trigger bow. The bends behind the trigger pad may not be the same. If you tweak, be careful that the trigger bows do not drag on the side of the frame or extend in the mag well.

Rebound of the trigger could be from the sear spring or the trigger bow getting caught on the grip safety spur.

Take it all back out and see if your trigger will fall in and out of the frame under its own weight. If it won't find where it's binding by coloring it with a felt-tipped marker and pushing it in and out of position.

My advice is to remove the overtravel screw and throw it away. Unless
something is badly out of spec, and the trigger puts the disconnect in a bind when its pulled, it's not necessary or desireable. There's a built-in overtravel stop on the grip safety. Your call. If you leave it and at some point down the road, pulling the trigger won't drop the hammer, the screw has moved.

The McCromick trigger should have a tab on either side of the bow at the
shoe...Those are for adjusting pre-travel. Bend them forward a little at a time until the slack is set at a MINIMUM of .040 inch. I like .060 better.
