I'm looking to buy a 1911-style pistol with an Officer's frame and Commander slide. The Guardian is one I'm considering. I have a question about its weight. The STI website lists it as 32.4 oz. The Ranger II is listed as 33 oz. I'm wondering how/why the weight difference can be that small. (I'm hoping there is a misprint and the Guardian actually weighs less.) ... In my search, I'm considering something with an aluminum frame b/c of weight, but am concerned about wear. Kimber has an aluminum model that weighs 28 oz. For 4 1/2 ozs., it seems worth it to go with steel.
