You know, shorting a keyboard is one thing, shorting a notebook is something entirely different. So I am out of here!

The far left is the Special Combat Government in 38 super ,the next two are
Special Combat Government's in 45 they are consecutive numbered 2895 and 2896 so i have not shot either( was advised against because of numbering ).The next is a Gold Cup Trophy, MK IV Government and the last is a Defender.
I am just getting started with Colts and i love them already.

The admission is easy ;). It's the not buying part that is hard. What the heck I'm gonna head over to look at my watch list. But I won't buy...I hope.

Thanks Hunter,
I am proud in a weird kinda way. Alot of this goes back to your Colt post. Colts popularity is growing leaps and bounds and i think this forum deserves alot of the credit . Great people with lots of knowledge to share. I know for me it has had a HUGE impact on my decision making .
Thanks again to all.

That was really funny Corral. I was worried at first but thanks to all of you guys and your great info im great now. I did see a Gunsite at the gun show tonight but seller just seemed very shady, said he was going out of business. I did buy a model # 01970a1cs Government Model Series 70. I thought the herd was looking a little shiny so decided to add some blue. These dang guns are addicting.

How much was it? Was it new?

I thought the gun was over priced at $1400. On top of it the guys seemed shady to me im sure it could be bought for less!! They said the guy was going out of business, they are outside of Pittsburg Pa and i have there info if you want it.

Yes, it is over priced...but they almost all go for that price. I don't need one (anymore) thanks, I was just thinking about YOUR Colt family. ;)

I didn't think I'd like the Gunsite as much as I do. It's a great 1911 and I like the way it's set up.

Looks to be a great gun I didn't think I would like the thinner grips but they felt fine. I was looking at Esmeraldo grips online today, are they as good as they look?

The Esmeralda grips are usually pretty good. They tend to run on the thick side on the magwell cut ones I've bought. They are also a bit tall so I modified them to clear safeties.

Joni,

You really know your stuff! Thanks for the help. Are those the grips on your Special Combat Government?

Yes, all but one set of my aftermarket grips are Esmeralda's.
