Hello 1911 friends across the world. I have a Norinco big-para customized in Germany and re-named "Norconia". It´s a 9mm caliber large frame pistol. I want to fit an 8" barrel to it, with a front sight mounted at the end of the barrel, like the SIG-Neuhaussen long sport. The problem is that the barrel seems to be thinner than the 1911 standard. My question is: does anybody know where I can find a barrel that fits the Norinco slide. We use 9mm pistols in long range competitions in Sweden, and a lot of guys use rebuild Lugers and Husqvarna m40 with 8 or 9" barrels. I love the 1911 and would like to beat them this coming summer.

I´ll be greatful for any help/Peter Skelleftehamn, just south of the nort pole.

Hey Peter,

I am not sure if anyone makes barrels that long, for the 1911. In the past Tony Lissner could make any barrel you wanted, and those barrels were the most accurate ones I've ever tried, but Tony disappeared from the market some years ago. Rumours have it that he got sick and gave up the business.

I would suggest you start writing or calling the known barrel manufacturers, like Schueman etc. Maybe they could get you what you have in mind. Go to the Home Page and use the search engine, to look for the word 'barrel'.
