On the barrel of my cco and scg the initials N. M. are present behind Colt .45 barrel. The initials were not present on the XSE. I assumed it to mean nationl math barrel. Is that correct or does it mean nowlin Match. I did a search for NM barrel in this forum and too many unrelated threads popped up so I figured this to be the easiest route to find out.
Edited for: I typed my assumption backwards orginally and came back and fixed it.

That would be National Match.

Thank you, I meant to say at first glance I assumed it to mean National match but then I was reading a barrel thread and I saw nowlin match listed and when I typed my original post I didn't realize I typed what I was thinking backwards. I appreciate your input.

It is an interesting topic.
On the top of the barrel of my Colt 1911 Special Combat Government (scg) it says, "- COLT 45 AUTO N. M.-"
On the top of my Colt Gold Cup National Match made in 1988 it says the same thing, although that barrel has a collet style bushing and the scg does not.
My XSE's, both Commander and Gov just say, "-COLT 45 AUTO-" on the top of the barrel.
The interesting one is my 70's Gold Cup National Match which has stamped on the top of the barrel, "COLT .45 AUTO N.M. <first line, and on second line> MK.IV/SERIES'70"
