I really just don't like the way the factory adjustables look. I'm thinking of installing the Novak low mount adjustable style. I figure all the higher end 1911's come with non adjustable novak style sights and are still very accurate. What you ya'll think?

If I am not mistaken, the rear sight on the Special Combat Government is Bomar (or a Bomar-lookalike). The Novaks will not fit that cut.

Bummer. I really like the way the fixed sights look on a two tone gun. Oh well.

One thing I do not understand. If you like the fixed sights, Colt has several models with them. Why on earth did you pay the premium of the Special Combat Government if you prefered another (usually cheaper) model?

Radar, that's a great find. John Harrison has done a good job there.

The SCG does in fact come with a BoMar. If you want a Novak, call Gunsite in Arizona and get a Colt Gunsite in either blue or stainless. Those come with a Novak. It would still require minor machining to install the adjustable Novak, but the Colt Gunsite Pistol is a nice one.
Colt is making the last few Gunsite pistols which will be sent to Gunsite, so if anyone wants one they appear to be the last place to find several possibly available.

Well...I'm sorta pickey. I like certain features of different guns and. For instance I like the sights better on the Gunsite but I didn't want fwd or slanted cocking serrations. And I like the accuracy from the SCG. I really like the SCG without shooting it yet. The sights don't bother me I just like the way the novaks look.

I'm definately not going to change anything on the pistol that requires modification to the metal.

It would look similar to this and I really like the way this one looks.

Well, another option might be to order a Nighthawk configured exactly that way.............the biggest difference being that it of course won't be a Colt.
I like the BoMar on my SCG, but once sighted in I usually never touch them again.

And a third more money as well. That is the reason I don't order a custom. Though if I was gonna it would be a nighthawk.

Ditto............if I was ordering a custom it would probably be a NH.

Glock you might want to try the sight from new gold cup trophys. They
are a little rounded on top edges might fit your eye better. Looking at them side by side looks like a perfect match only difference i noticed was on stamping on the actual site itself .There was a colt on the Gold Cup and a R on the Special Combat Government. I had my Gold Cup adjusted in minutes on the range. Maybe you can ask around.
