I have a stainless Series 80 that appears to be a Gold Cup. It has no markings on the slide except "Colt Custom". The model is 05070CCC Colt Custom Competetion.
Is anyone familiar with this gun?

I don't think it's a Gold Cup........but it would be beneficial to see some pics of it.
It sounds like a custom shop model probably built on a Gov't model, but not necessarily.

I'll post some pictures as soon as I figure out how to do it.

You'll need to have your photo's hosted on a site like photobucket.com and then place the correct line of url text in your message for it to show up.
There's a thread here in the forum that tells how to post pics. Sorry, I can't seem to remember where it is.

A buddy of mine has a gun like that (based on your description). Polished stainless, with beavertail, and magwell funnel. He threw in an additional $100, and got ivory grips. Some distributor was trying to close them out, and he got it for a very good price (eight-ten years ago?).

Oh yeah....I have seen a few. The Custom Shop has put out Gold Cups rollmarked "Colt Custom". They have done that with XS, commanders....and other models.
