View Full Version : Meprolight on a Novak cut slide

Hey Folks, I've got another one...

Okay, so I've got a SA 1911-A1 slide that has the novak low-mount cut on it... I want to put Meprolights on this slide for various reasons (brighter, for one)...

I have not yet been able to remove the front sight for measurement, as the front sight has a small roll pin that goes through the top of the sight into the slide. I'm having a heck of a time trying to remove it, so I may just put the slide on the milling machine and mill back through the sight--there's a few thousandths space between forward protrusion of the sight and the top of the slide... It would seem that this isn't the way to properly secure a front sight to a weapon...

At any rate, I need to figure out how to put just about any meprolight sight on this slide. It doesn't look like meprolight makes a novak compatible sight, though they do show one for S&W for novak cut. I THINK that these two are different....

I guess my other option would be to buy a different slide that is not cut and cut it myself...

Anyhow, is there anyone who's been around on this?

Thanks,
Head
