I'm looking to purchase my first Colt (after over a year of drooling) and have a lead on a Colt Tactical Level 3 built in 1998. It's in excellent condition according to a local gun smith. I'm planning on target shooting as my primary use for the pistol. Can any one offer some comments on the quality of these pistols and approximate values? I would also appreciate any information on the history of this model.

Colt Tactical series...made 1998-2001. Commander hammer, ambi safety, Videcki long trigger with over-travel stop, Tactical III has Bo-Mars, match barrel bushing, beavertail. Nice piece and kinda scarce.

Like this one......

;) I have all three tactical models. The I is nothing special, but the Tactical II and Tactiacal III are wonder guns. Quality is nothing but the best, parts and pieces are nothing but the best, and they shoot, shoot, shoot, and to point of aim. I have Colts, SA, Kimbers and Wilsons. The Tactical series is as close as you are going to come to a Wilson, in my humble opinion. The Wilson is better, but not by much. The Tacticals make SA and Kimbers look really bad, and I have high end custom shop guns from both.

Wow, I would think that having all three really enhances their overall value....what a great thing to have found all three! Can you put up some pics?

Paul45 & Sandhills Writer - Thank you for the reply. Sounds like I should take advantage of this oppurtunity as I expect the price will be very reasonable. Will post some pictures if everything works out successfully.
