I wonder if they build them in Lot's like they do other production models....Maybe a call to mark will answer that for me.... ;)

Can I ask why you guys are using acronyms or short-hand writing? I mean what the heck is an SCG? Why do I have to spend time figuring out what that is? This is not a cellular phone through which you send SMS's you know, there is no limit on how long your post is (well, there is one but I do not think you will ever hit it). So why do you use them? Or is it that you are tired of writing? If you are, I am tired of reading your posts.

I am out of here.

all of the post you are refering to are being posted in colt forums.so the assumption is that people in induvidual threads will be familar with the slang or lingo. there is no bad intent or lazyness about it its how you refer to the individual guns in day to day conversation. for the record a scg stands for a special combat government it is a specific gun colt builds. a gcp is a gold cup trophy. sorry for all your confusion. as im sure we are all are here for the same reason which is to learn from others who know much more than us.

Years ago I attended a class - a workshop - when I worked for IBM. In that class was discussed the use of abbreviations and acronyms. One of the things stressed was that unless everyone in your target audience knows what a given abbreviation or acronym means, don't use them. One example the instructor used was "Y2K". Because it was so widely known and used on the news and so forth, using "Y2K" was acceptable. But other acronyms that may not be generally known only cause confusion.

I think that's the case here. Whenever I post something about, say, the full length guide rod, that's what I do - I write the whole thing out - then include (FLGR). Now that I've established what FLGR means, I can continue to use it. But if FLGR isn't defined, how will someone unfamiliar with the expression know what it means? Remember, it's not just us who is reading this - it's the new M1911 owner six months from now, visiting this site for the first time. Maybe he's got a problem and he's looking for an answer. He reads a bunch of cryptic letters and abbreviations - what's he going to think?

Not everyone who reads this forum is a Colt owner or as up on Colt's offerings as some of you are. Take pity on us less informed souls.

Oh, that same instructor used as another example the acronym SNAFU, saying this was another whose was widely known. I asked if he knew what it really meant. After a few back-and-forths he later confessed to know knowing.

So I told him!

I don't think he'll be using that as an example anymore.

Capitals on the Internet is like shouting to those who read your messages. Complete sentences are nice too.

paul is this guy serious? sent me email said i wasnt polite?I do not know what you are speaking of. I sent no emails to anyone. My statement concerning capitals and complete sentences was indirectly aimed at you, as your posts are extremely diffficult to read. I hope not to offend you.

I thought you meant using capitals for abbreviations and acronyms, such as FLGR and MSH, not like "scg".

John

No, we got everything mixed up here.

Paul I thought you meant using only capitals, all capitals in your posts. That's like shouting.

And yes, I agree d90king's posts are some of the most difficult to read, no capitals when starting a sentence, full of acronyms no one knows what they mean, abbreviations etc. I emailed him asking him to stop doing that, so he is complaining now.

I think Joni is correct at 50-60 a month. You could email Mark Roberts and ask him. Good luck.
