That's a fair price. If you want one, go for it.

I doubt it will be worth any less if properly cared for.

Well kept you'd be able to not only make your money back but turn a small profit with the right buyer. The fact that some folks are already paying premium ($1000 - $1200) prices for new and like new despite the fact that they are still being made I think it's a deal with some potential. If you aren't particularly drawn to the Repro it'd make it easy to sell down the road and make a few bucks.

I mean any in addition to the normal paper work that comes with the WWI reproductions, any paper work stating the pistol was actually used by a Colt representative as a demonstration model?

$800 is a good deal. The fact it was a demo does not effect the price unless there is damage due to handling.
One thing to check is the recoil spring tunnel. Make sure that the cut is even. I got one that was very off center. Colt replaced the pistol.
Also carefully check the bluing. It is a carbonia blue and it does not always take to the pistol as well as standard blues. I have seen streaky finishes.

stoped in to take another look this am .the gun has everything as if it was new and did not appear to have been fired . however on the front of the grip on the metal was a nick . my gun guy advised me to wait and he would have a new one that was perfect in for a $150 more in a couple weeks . however i did get good news. he should have my two tone scg in on thur and might have found me a blue gct.when that comes in i am going to try and retake a family photo of my gct,my two scg hard chromes, defender ,two tone scg and a couple others that are great guns .
