I picked her up yesterday and had to go straight to work. I just got around to post the pics of her for you. Poor Joni, with all the new SCG's showing up here and hers still on order shes gonna go crazy. Anyway I can't wait to see how it shoots. Maybe this weekend. I really like the attention to detail Colt put into this pistol. Especially the S&A beaver tail. Too bad you can't buy a quality Colt for under $2000.00 :D

Thanks Hunter, I wanted a stainless Gold Cup or this one and in the end I chose this one because of the conventional cocking serrations. Now I need a Gold Cup too. Whats wrong with me? :butthead:

Nothing is wrong with you, there are Colt's out there and they aren't yet in your possession. The only way to fix it is to buy them.

I found this set of grips and took one photo before the camera quit. These grips don't look right on the SCG so I stuck Alumigrips on it. I'll post a pic when I get the camera working again.

That's a nice piece. Be sure to tell us how it shoots. I guess I am going to have to break down and pay real money to get mine. But I just got my GCT back from Novak's. The bushing fit made it very much worth the wait.

Glockinload, BEAUTIFUL Colt sir! You all and your awesome Colts are killing me right now....and this is just another example of the great American icon that is the 1911. I'd really like to have an SCG. But the Baer that just came in has temporarily broke the gun bank, so it'll be awhile before anymore purchases are made. And I NEED to start reloading....arghhh, priorities :p

I didn't like those grip on it so they now live on my RRA, I tried Alumigrips and then Cocobolo.........the last one is the winner for me!

I guess I'm glad more people don't get it. Keeps the prices down and the selection up for the Colt afficianados. Just as long as they sell enough to keep Colt in business.

Thanks Paul. If I throw it at the target it might get scratched up and I don't want a scratched up door stop. Yup, the more the better.

Thanks.
I know there's absolutely no reason for it, but I'd still like to get one in the 2 tone finish.
I took mine apart for a check over and lube yesterday. I hope it shoots well because the bushing is loose in the slide. Maybe the recoil spring plug will help hold it in place.
I just know I'll be calling EGW for a bushing soon.

Justin, that's a beautiful pistol! Great pictures, too. The two-tone is definitely my favorite for the SCG, but they're all super nice. Ok, so that's another one that I just have to get! Congratulations!

Do you have a pair of calipers to measure the difference between the two?

I thought you already ordered a two tone. There is a reason why you'd like to get the two tone. Because you can never have enough Colts.

Some day when I am really old I'll understand the "wisdom" of buying a gun and not shooting it :butthead:

first i must admit i am a little nutty that way but i approach it differently than most. as a enthusiast i love guns and the 1911 and i buy guns to shoot and shoot often . but i also look at other guns as good investments and as
things that i get to enjoy at the same time while getting the same return as if the money was in the bank.when you are presented with a unique chance at back to back numbers on a gun like the scg that enhances the value of the pair you just buy another to shoot maybe the two tone which looks great or do what joni did with hers she did a great job by the way and end up with the best of both worlds

I have calipers and will do some measuring, but I'm not doing anything about it until I've had a chance to sit down and shoot it off a bench.
I ordered the hard chrome SCG first and found a 2 tone at a dealers. I don't care for the fit of the barrel in the 2 tone so I'm giving it a pass. I may get one later on.
Almost all my grips come from Esmeralda. My series 80 Gold Cup has a set of Herrett's.

when you say fit of the barrel what are you refering to? i am looking to pick one up and am curious what the diff would b from my hard chromed scg

The barrel isn't firm at the rear, when I pressed down on it I could feel it move.
Functionally there should be no difference between a 2 tone and a hard chrome except manufaturing variation.

When the mud dries a bit I'll take it to the range and report on it.

Ah, the barrel isn't sitting on its legs while in battery. Will you post a picture of the target they sent with it please?

Joni Lynn

The gun I got has a nice firm barrel at the rear, no movement that I detect. The target was a round hole about the size of a silver dollar and shot at 15 yards. When I get a chance I'llget a pic of it.
