CDP vs Eclipse? Series 1 vs Series 2?

I know I deserve the obligatory 'apples & oranges' comments, but I'd appreciate any input regarding packing an Ultra CDP versus the Ultra Eclipse and if it's worth pursuing a Series 1 gun. There seems to be a strong bias towards the Series 1 guns in this Forum. I have heard but not confirmed that Kimber continues to manufacture both series on select models?

--How does the major difference in weight (almost 10 ounces?) affect ease of carry and shootability? I've read some glowing reports of CDPs but not too much regarding the Eclipse models. The durability of stainless is appealing.

--Are FTE problems really a chronic problem with Series 2 external extractors? Seems like my Custom 2 TLE has an internal extractor and has never missed a beat, but isn't that a Series 2 gun?

--Any other major issues I should be considering?

About two weeks ago i bought a custom tle at a gun show. It was used but in great shape. Since then i sold it and bought an eclipse target 2. What a great gun. I ran 300 rounds so far not a problem. This gun looks great and is the most fun i had shooting in a long time. just be ready to buy lots of ammo cause you wont want to stop shooting it. I think in the next two weeks i might buy a stainless pro carry 2 in 40 cal. for my carry. Good luck
