They are nice, but I have no idea. The photos were emailed to me - they are from the pistol I bought but have yet received. Is that a barrel that might come with a AA rebuilt 1911A1?

It could have been, it is definitely a replacement.
Who is your gunsmith by the way, where is he located?

I believe those are GI replacement barrels from post Viet-Nam (70's)...they were made by Colt and others, some found their way onto NM handguns -- I also believe the barrels are chrome-lined, but I could be wrong on that part...

You didn't have this barrel in your shop?

The barrel is a post 1968 standard USGI replacement barrel. It most likely is chrome lined. The M indicates the barrel was magnafluxed (magnetic tested), and the P is the normal Proof Mark found on USGI barrels. The 7791193 is the Ord. Dept. Part #. If it were an NM barrel it would be marked on the chamber hood .45 AUTO (over) NM 7991414 by mfr. 73677. The 73677 is a CAGE # for the manufacturer. The manufacture is Duroyd Mfg. Co. Inc. of NY. I have a few of those barrels still in the wrapper, they are 1979 -80 mfg. and there was about 55,000 or so made for the DOD under contract, and the ones I have are chrome lined. The NM barrels were made as replacements and were post 1974. (All the post 1968 NM replacement barrels marked NM 7791414 were based on the original design used in '63 - '65 on the USGI NM Pistols);)

Augusta Arsenal (AA) closed in 1955, the barrel is a USGI replacement dating to the 1970's. ;)

The 7791193 marked barrels date to the early 60's. Colt, S&W, Kart, Milo Components, Duroyd Mfg., L&B Engineering, Roto 3, IMI, National Aerospace, MKB Mfg., GEN II, Mec Airtronics, H&R, and Milo Components. Some of these mfrs. also made the NM 7791414 National Match Replacement barrels as well. ;)

Whoa, that's quite a bit earlier than I thought.
Thanks Hans.
