I have a new gold cup with only 400 rounds through it. During my league shoot yesterday, the rear sight leaf pin (#35 in the diagram) worked loose and caused me to have a disastrous 9 misses before I figured out what happened to my aim.

The pin was all the way out but I was able to reinsert it with a tiny screwdriver blade tip. It went in with hardly any force and my concern is that this will happen again. The pistol is new (12/06) and although I can probably fix it with a drop of sealant over the hole, I feel COLT should fix it. I am open to opinion as to what people in this forum would do. Please comment.

You could slightly peen the ends of the pin to try and hold it in position. Another trick is to place a small bend in the center of the pin which will also hold it in place somewhat but may also cause difficulty during insertion.
The pin in mine gave me a problem and I used a solid pin with that small bend in it.
If you ever place the gun in a mechanicla rest like a Ransom rest those roll pins tend to sheer.

I believe if you call Colt customer service they will send you a solid pin and it does have the bend in it as Joni described. It is an easy fix.

Hunter, I called Colt and was given very good customer service. They sent me 2 pins with the bend as you described. I asked if this was a common problem and was told that with only 400 rounds fired, this was a rare occurrence. Anyway, I'm happy this was the cause of my rough score at the range and not a brain malfunction.
