He she is. Former police duty weapon from a small town in AZ. This gun had seen a lot of use prior to my acquiring it. Basic series 80 1911 that was the basis for my first 1911 build. I'm by no means new to rebuilding guns but I learned a whole lot! Here's the before:

Now for the after. EGW hard sear, O/S FPS, and O/S slide stop. Fusion mag well and hammer. Chip McCormick beavertail. Ergo XT grips w/ slim line hex screws. "Colt .45 Auto N.M." barrel w/ Series 70 collet bushing. STI extended thumb safety. STI extended ejector. All new barrel link and pins. 16lbs recoil spring and 23lbs mainspring. Trigger breaks at a clean 4.5lbs without me having had to do any polishing. Only thing I didn't do, but will be doing this week, is going with a longer trigger. The whole gun was refinished by Derek at Arizona Expert Arms (http://www.azexarms.com) in a black semi-gloss (runs more to the gloss side but it's hard to tell in the pictures). He does a moly based paint over parkerizing process. After I ring it out a little bit and see what kinks come up I think it's going to be my duty gun once I start the police academy in May. It's either that or my SIG P229 and I KNOW where you guys stand on THAT!

Love the Cooper-esque "melted Micro" sight.

Good job, nice fit and blend of the high ride grip safety to the frame? Wilson Combat?
Wanna trade your short blued trigger with a new Greider aluminum (3 hole - ala Videki) trigger? Send me an email if you're interested.

Well done. I'm slowly getting experience with detail stripping and reassembly and working towards fitting triggers and grip safeties. After that, look out! It is very fun and rewarding to get more and more proficient at it. I've always enjoyed tools and making/improving things. Nice job, gp!

If Derek's past work holds true for this gun I know the finish will hold up great. My P229 was refinished in two tone, OD Green and Black. I use a Blade-Tech IWB holster and while it shows some wear you wouldn't be able to tell that I carried it almost daily and used it in local pistol matches. Plus he's done my 2 Remington 700s, an HK33 clone, MP5/40 clone, Steyr GB, and a couple other guns that I'm forgeting. I highly recommend his work.

Finally got out to the range. I put 200 rounds through it. Only problem encountered was that some of my reloads were a little too short and they wouldn't go all the way into battery, causing a three point. I was using 200gr jacketed SWC and I seated some of them a little deep. The other 150 rounds went down range with zero problems. I think for my first 1911 build I got lucky!
