Where is a reasonable priced place to get Colt 1911 parts without paying more for shipping than the part itself cost? Thanks. Mark the frustrated. :(

Mark, have you found a site that sells authentic 1911 parts? Even one that charges more for shipping? I need a source for a 1918 M1911 SN478xxx

Thanks
Tom

Have you tried www.e-gunparts.com (http://www.e-gunparts.com)?

Brownells has a good pile of stuff, too....

The problem is that practically everybody is taking a couple bucks before figuring in the actual shipping costs. So an extractor, which weighs about nothing, is going to cost $3-$5 to ship if you can't just go get one someplace.

I keep a wish list on Brownells, and whenever I actually need something, I order a couple items from the wish list as spares, etc. Saves a bit on postage, and I don't have to wait.

(I'm tying $100 or so in "inventory", but but it beats sitting in the living room watching for the little brown truck.)

I had a situation a couple years ago with a supplier that had a $15 minimum shipping charge. (A source of Kenwood radio parts.) I needed a $10-ish belt clip, which is just a piece of steel, kinda flat, and nearly indestructable. Somebody stuck it in a little padded envelope and billed me $3.50-ish for shipping, which was about what it cost 'em.
