What are the advantages to having or installing a commander type hammer?
I've done a search, but it has not satisfied my curiosity.

It eliminates hammer bite and may be slightly less likely to snag clothing. That's about all I can think of.

Plus it works better with some grip safeties.

The original Commander hammer just mimics the hammer of the Browning P35 of that era. I've no idea of any advantages to it unless you're putting a lanyard thru the hole :p .

It's the only way to modify the pistol, in order to avoid getting the web of your hand pinched. That requires a Commander grip safety or a beavertail, as well.
