Being fairly new to the group and having recently reviewed the Warning System... I have to ask (in complete and honest ignorance)... What is trolling...?

If you remember your fairy tales from your childhood; trolls were ugly creatures that lived under bridges and caused trouble. On the internet trolls may or may not be ugly creatures but they still cause trouble; start threads or post with no intent to either pass on information or to receive it but with the intent to start arguements and general havoc on the boards.
Others may chime in with their ideas on th subject.

That sums it up pretty well. A troll is a troublemaker. Someone who posts not to contribute to the discussion, but to inflame the discussion, insult someone, or just cause trouble.

The previous replies pretty well cover it, but if you want more: On Google do a search on "Internet Trolls" and review a couple of the links that are presented.

Death to all trolls except of course the magical ones under the bridge in fairy tales.

I think trolling as it applies to fishing fits the definition too. You drag some bait through unknown waters and wait to see what rises to it.
