Here's mine. I had the billboard ground off and reblued. Swapped out the hammer, strut and sear for a wilson. When you replace the hammer might as well go with the sear, but the strut would not pop free so I swapped that out while I was in there. I also pulled out all the series 80 ****. Swapped out hte FLGR for a regular one. All this after 4k rounds. It is now creeping very slowly to 5k. I have yet to experiece a failure with this gun. I am pretty amazed.

Here is my Taurus with replacement rubber wrap-around Hogue Grips.

You can notice that the front site is not centered in the dovetail. It was shooting to the left, so I had the range shift the rear site. Others may have complained about loose sites, but it isn't my gun.

Almost the whole kit. Add one more key, an allen wrench for the rear site, a case and remove the snap cap in the magazine.

Taurus is stock. Colt is not.
Couple of hundred rounds through the Taurus. One FTF, slide stop engaged twice with rounds still in the mag. Other than that, very happy with the pistol.

My first attempt at hand making some new personalized grips. Made from an old Springfield 1903 stock blank reject recovered from my grandfather's shed. Not exactly perfect but better than the original plastic grips. They are inlayed with unit hat pins of units I served in while in the Marine Corps. Left side is the 3rd Battalion 6th Marine Regiment crest. The right is the Ship's Detachment crest from when I served on Sea Duty, which is the oldest job in the Marine Corps. Or, should I say was the oldest job, no thanks to Clinton.

I intended to do the slide in a deeper black with the frame in a silver, stainless steel or burnished bright metal. However when I got to the point with the slide preped I choked. I think the slide looks great in the burnished metal and allow the frame to remain black... kind of like my other Taurus PT145.

He only had one and was taking orders. Mine finally arrived in November. OTD $545. I took it to the range (indoor) and with two boxes of American Eagle FMJ proceeded to blow holes in the ceiling. :lm: The darned thing went full auto through an entire 8 shot mag and ended up ventiliating the sky. We ran back to the gundealer and he took one look at it and gave me a brand new one from the safe. He got the defective one back from Taurus a month later with a new sear and a apology. My 2nd one is faultless. I finally got 5K rounds through it and and trigger is down to 3.5 # pull. The target photo shows 3 shot group of 200 LSWC (Lee mold) lubed with Carnuba Red and at 25 yds from a sandbag gave me a group of 1.26". I put a set of Houge Laminated Rosewood grips on it and it is my CCW loaded with Federal 230 GR hydra-shoks.

Just got it home a few hours ago and I've already ordered the Pachmayr ALS grips, a decent Tac light for the rail and 2x Chip McCormick 10 round Power Mags (thanks to the suggestion of darkazally and 2ndtimer on this forum). Can't wait to put it all to good use. Oh and did I mention the PT1911 popped my 1911 cherry? Well I guess since I haven't made it to the range yet that isn't quite true but it sure feels great so far!

Those grips you ordered are really great. I would like to pass on a tip that might save you some heartache. Before you put them on, take off the setscrews that hold the emblems. And get some Loctite on the screws and reinstall them. On mine the set screw backed out and caused me some FTF, because when it backed out it got lodged between the hole in the mag, causing feed problem. FYI, those set screws are small. Also if you have problem with the rubber not staying in place on the wood, get some contact/rubber cement to holds it in place. Here is my RIA with them. Hope this might help.

http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j107/pk3dnow/Taurus%20PT1911B/PT1911AR_1.jpg
Took a little work to get the grips on there due to having to dremel the grips down a bit and also added a bit of epoxy to keep the rubber attached to the wood a little better. The grips sure feel good in my hands.
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j107/pk3dnow/Taurus%20PT1911B/PT1911AR_2.jpg
Chip McCormick Power 10 magazines installed. Not too sure how I feel about these just yet because I have not fired a shot through them. But they sure look pretty.
http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j107/pk3dnow/Taurus%20PT1911B/PT1911AR_3.jpg
The tac light is amazing for only $29.99 from www.cheaperthandirt.com certainly bright but not blinding bright. If I had to guess I'd say in the range of 50-60 lumens. A little low to blind someone (I'd say at least 80 would be needed for that) but perfect for clearing a room or doing some low light shooting.
I'm so pleased with this gun and I can't spread the word of the Taurus PT1911 fast enough.

Picked one up today as an merry christmas gift to myself. They had the stainless, light rail, and this stock model. I went with the stock.
I stopped by the range today and gave it a "soft launch" of 150 Rds. It ran very well with 1 FTF and good accuracy. It didn't agree with my McCormick Mag though. But the Taurus ones seem just fine. I'm not sure if i'll change anything... except maybe grips, and a magwell. and...........
The only negatives I have for it are cosmetic. I don't really like the inlayed engraving, I would prefer a skeletonized hammer, and the finish is thing and already wearing. But this is a utilitarian pistol and honestly, if I get the finish worn off that only means I'm having fun with it!

Having shot many K of 45acp thru my PT1911 I decided to add a 22lr conversion on top. This Advantage Arm Target conversion is perfect! It's way more accurate than I'll ever be and it seems to like cheap Blazer ammo, so that's a bonus. :D

Durabake is sold in aerosol containers. No need to buy a spray gun.
There is a limited selection of colors, but most of the popular colors
are available. After spraying on the color, the parts go into the oven.
After baking, let parts cool and assemble. It couldn't be easier.
My Para P14 is next. I'm thinking Matt Black this time.

Here is mine so far, I went with the Leopard wood grips (although these are cut for the no longer in existance fail ambi safety), blacked out billboarding, Wilson Combat Extended Safety, Wislon Combat Extended Mag Release, Fusion Extractor and Bar Stock Ejector.
Next will be the Firing Pin, the Hammer (probably a Wilson Combat ultra light) along with the matching sear, and the enhanced spring package also by Wilson Combat and possibly and extended beveled mag well spring housing, or an arched mainspring housing.

Very nice PT 1911 you have there. What kind of hammer do have on there? I'm thinking about changing mine. How does it shoot?
Thanks! It's my 1st 1911 since my days of schlepping M-60 ammo, I don't miss the tripod, but I did miss the .45... and that was long ago! I love it, and it shoots as well as I do, and probably better.
I'm waiting on Novak/Trijicon nightsights and SS Grip screws from Brownells....

Seems that now I've got a lot of perfectly good spare parts, or a jump on my next build! None of this was necessary, and trigger pull is (maybe) a little better than stock.
The plunger tube pins were oversized; I put them in the dremel and honed them down. Sear, disconect, hammer and strut (with strut pin from rebuild kit) were drop in, as was the mag catch.
The ambi safety is NOT a drop in part, much dremeling was required but it works great after 4 "sessions" of filing, reassmbly, disassembly, more fitting... I've learned it's easier to take small amount off than try and add it back!
Barrel bushing and plug are stock; I polished them.
The grips are direct from Raasco....

Well I finally made it to the range yesterday afternoon with the gun and 300 rounds of different ammunition. If you haven't been watching the weather, it is extremely hot and dry here in south central Texas. Yesterday was no exception. The thermometer at the range showed 102 and 78% humidity. Yuck..so I really was hoping the gun would make my day worthwhile. I started out with 50 rounds each of: Winchester White Box FMJ, Federal FMJ, Mag Tec FMJ, American Eagle FMJ and Winchester SXZ. The last box was my favorite carry ammo Federal 230gr. HydraShok. I shot all groups from a bench, using sandbags as a rest fore and aft. This is not how I usually test my ammo but I wanted some real tests of the guns capability. Most ammo averaged 4"-5" groups with flyers from time to time. I had three failure to extract and one failure to return to battery using the Winchester SXZ, but no problems with the other loads. I cleaned the dirty gun and relubed it before the last group. Lastly I decided to get off the bench for the last 50 and shoot the gun like I would in a home defense situation. The target tells the story. The HydraShoks did as I expected and shot the best of the bunch. In the first 50, I had to make some sight adjustment to the rear sight which was about 3/32" off center. That brought the point of impact to within 1/2" of bullseye. I am happy wih the result, so much that I went by a gun store in the area to pick up some bullets for reloading and in the case they had a Streamlight TLR-2. I mounted it on the rail and did a little haggling over the price until I was happy, and it now has a new permanent home there. I palyed around with it and I have the laser dialed in at 12 yards to point of impact. The light is by far the brightest of any weaponlight I have ever seen. I am a happy camper and now have a new home defense gun, that is going to the range very often.

I picked this PT1911 up last year. I traded a Glock 22 that I couldn't gel with for it, and was pretty skeptical at first. One trip to the range took care of that. This PT1911 is a tack driver that has operated flawlessly from day one.

I carried the 1943 Remington Rand in this photo for quite awhile, but decided a little while ago it was time to let it sit in the safe. It's earned it's retirement. Can't believe I bought it for $70.00 back in the day. Kinda tried to do a "Then and Now" photo...LOL...

And my current daily CCW...NEVER had a failure no matter what I feed it...all the nay sayers can nay say, but I have a couple three top shelf 1911 models, including a Colt 1991 and a Kimber Custom, and for a utility carry 1911, the Taurus is as good as any IMO, and probably the best return on a dollar of all of them depending on your goal.
