I got my defender after Christmas. I have tried different ammo, but at least 2 or 3 per 50 ejections hit me on the forehead or eye glasses. Can this be fixed?

I believe that could be a extractor issue. how bout you check the tension...also possibly the FPS is a little loose to allow the extractor to clock?

Welcome to the club. I had 2 Colt Defenders in .45 acp and both smacked me straight to my forehead and like you said glasses. The 1st I got rid of because it started acting up, ftf, fte, stovepipe. The 2nd I brought to my 'smith. He filed the ejector a bit to give it an angle (does that make sense?) and did not do me justice. Sold it. Solution - when you go to the range make sure you wear a ball cap and safety glasses. If you're wearing prescription that's another story. The only Colt Defender that does not do that is my Colt Defender .40 S&W. Good luck!!

Check your extractor, in all probability it is clocking in its tunnel. Make sure that the firing pin safety is tight in its slot, so tight that it keeps the extractor in place, without allowing it to twist.

Can't this also be caused by an extractor hook that's a bit too long? If you do a search on ejection and/or "erratic ejection" you'll get several threads. A fairly common situation and one that can be remedied.
Tuner can no doubt shed more light on this.

I sure wouldn't give up on the Defender! Mine works great, but I have had extractor tuning issues with some of my other Colts...and this Forum is the greatest for getting 'em resolved!
