I have a Kimber Custom II and I am wondering if you can simply replace the slide, barrel, and the rest of the top portion to essentially make it a Pro Carry size pistol. I would like to have a smaller pistol for concealed carry and a larger pistol for target/open carry type stuff. Would this even work? I don't know how interchangeable Kimber 1911 parts are, but I don't want to find out the hard way. Any thoughts?

Welcome:
I think you might get better answers had you placed this thread in the gunsmithing section.
Actually, a fellow shooter and I were recently wondering the same thing. I'll be curious to see what answers you get.

I saw your question in the chat room. You should be able to delete using the edit button on the bottom right of the thread you started. I think that will work but not sure.
