Hi extreme newbie here! I have a chance at getting the following. As near as I can figure it is a 1943 and has been reparked. The grips are wrong too. Other than that I don't know what it is. Price is in the $400-$600 range. Opinions please. Okay pics to follow as soon as I figure it out. Okay that was fairly painless!

Dave,

Its a 1943 according to the serial number.... At that price range you certainly can't go wrong IMO. With the savings, some USGI parts like grips, mag, maybe a correct HS barrel, and replace the pitted slide stop, and you'd have a tidy little shooter, with some collectibility.

I'd go get 'er, and good luck. :)

Thanks Bob Since talking to the seller and checking out coolgunsite.com I have found out that only the barrel is not marked correctly. The seller insists that it is original finsh with the Du-Lite finish. I think I'm going to get it. Thanks Dave

Dave,

The last RRand with Du-Lite finish was serial number 1,015,000. Everything built from then, to the last produced, was Parkerized. :(

Maybe except slide-stops and safeties... a lot of these already made (and blued) Colt parts that were used throughout WW2.

Thanks for all the info guys. Bottom line is I had to pass on the Rem. Rand. The deal was a trade, however, the rifle I have is too hard to let go. It would have been do the trade and then kick myself forever after. I just couldn't let my "baby" go. I'll keep looking though. Thanks
