I filed my taxes last night, and found out that I'm getting a decent refund, so I decided to stop at a gun shop as I was driving across Texas again. I stopped at Carroll's on 59 North of El Campo. I told myself that if they had a RIA under $400 or a SA GI under $525, I'd get it.
They had both, so I was able to compare them side-by-side. Well, guess which one I picked! I prefer the RIA's ejection port and the flat mainspring housing. And the trigger actually feels a little better on the RIA than on the GI that I held.

I hand-cycled a bunch of hollow points and ball ammo through the gun with the Novaks mag. It invariably has a problem with the last round. None fail to feed, but the last round won't eject without outside help. It's also difficult to remove the mag from the pistol after it's fed all the ammo through. When I yank it out, the slide-stop comes down with it, and the slide drops forward.
I tried both of my Springfield magazines in it, and both of those work flawlessly.
Since I have 10 of the Springfield mags on order, I know what will be feeding this pistol.
I'm well pleased with the gun, though I really look forward to firing it to see how pleased I will be at the range.
And the GI sights don't bother me a bit.
I'm a happy boy!
The only thing I'll be changing on this one is the grips and magazine.

You are having the exact same problem with your follower jumping the slide stop that I am having. Only I am using metalforms with a flat dimpled follower. I'm thinking that I got some of the lemons in that group buy that was done a year or so ago.

lazlong,
Congrats on your new Rock. Sounds like your slide stop was ground down a bit too much where it contacts the mag follower. I had the same problem with a Chip McCormick SS extended slide stop when I was doing some mods on my Rock. I changes it to a Wilson and haven't had any problems with any mag that I have used since. If you contact Ivan he will probably send you a new one.
Good luck.

I think you nailed it. I just installed my Springfield's slide stop as a test, and it didn't have the same malfunction once over a dozen tests.
The Springfield mags still function properly with the original slide stop, though.
I'll see what Ivan has to say about it.

Check my website, and tell me whether you think I can handle working on things.

Edit: It's not the perfect show car, but it's mechanically perfect, and I'm the only person who's ever put a wrench on that car.
