Hi
My shiny (yes shiny as in they took a buffer to them) new (to me) Systema's seem to have "interesting" barrels. Normally pistol barrels have both lands *and* groves. These are interesting in that they seem to have one, but not the other.... Also the crown on one has been carefully modified by impact with a stone floor at some point as well.
Seems I'm in the market for at least one and maybe a pair of barrels, links, and pins. I would like one that will likely fit them with out use of a TIG welder. I'd rather keep this in the sub $100 range if I could, but that's not essential. My guess is that I don't shoot well enough for a $200 barrel to make a difference.
Any great deals out there? I've checked Brownell's and nothing jumps right out as an obvious choice.

In this case a used e-bay bbl. may actually be the answer?
be sure it's a name brand, and that you can return it if it's not as advertised. Used to see some Springer take-offs pretty cheap.

I'll catch a lot of flak for this, but I've found that Sarco's Roto barrels pretty much drop in and work. They sell for about $40.
You could also check with Ivan about an Armscor barrel. He can get you one for about the same price. The Sarco barrels are stripped, so you would have to buy the link and pin for another couple of bucks. I don't know if the Armscor barrels include the link and pin.

That would be hard to beat for the casual banger....and reliable experience attesting they are ok.

I'm sure there of lots of 'smiths who have take-off Springfield barrels you could get for a really reasonable price if they knew you were in the market. I'm all out of them or I'd certainly let you have one really cheap.
If you don't find one on ebay, check with my friend Rich at rdaniels36@cox.net. Last time I spoke with him he had a couple of new ones.

Hi
I have seen a couple of eBay horror stories so I'm a little leary of going that way right away. I'd rather not deal with somebody else's mistake if you know what I mean. I've gotten some very nice stuff there and some that wasn't ...
Of course, speaking of Springfield take off's maybe it's time to upgrade the Mil Spec's .... hmmm ... interesting idea ...
The SARCO Roto's and Ivan's RIA barrels are certainly on the list. They both fit well within the price range. I'm wondering if either one is a better bet for dropping into what is essentially an old GI frame and slide. My concern is having a barrel that has to little left on it to fit properly.

Hi
Sounds like good information. I suppose I could actually break down and *buy* one and see. :D

I have 4 or 5 brand new Springfield Armory barrels from the GI mil-spec guns.
They should drop right in.
$50 each shipped, with return privileges.

Hi
Interesting .....
I'm still wondering just how close a fit they will be. I suppose there's only one way to find out.

Hi
I'm not throwing away the original barrels. Maybe Gyro Jet ammo will come out again.
