Just bought two Nickle .38 Supers with consecitive numbers.

They do not have the ramped barrels shown in your company catalog.

They are a few thousand numbers lower than my Parkerized .38 Super.

Have you stopped using ramped barrels or were these earlier frames set up for something else?

When will we see the other caliber Tacticals shown? Will they be standard or ramped?

Are the Target models the same as the Match?

Tried calling yesterday but forgot about Friday.

Consecutive numbers...now that's nice! I also noticed my new one has the early Colt style non-ramped barrel. My first one is ramped.

I wonder how spellcheck missed that one?
I failed 1st quarter freshman english twice because of spelling. Lucky I got credit for two quarters of calculus from testing out.

Nice pair of Shiny RIA'S ! Is that a lovely after-market nickled S&W M&P round butt perhaps with a 5" barrel I see there with the Rocks? :scared:

Cocked & Locked is correct, it is a 32-20 Hand Ejector Model of 1905 1st Change.(1906-1907)
Matching numbers but originally blue. Has 32 Winchester Ctg on barrel. Fits the pimp gun image.
For someone who uses a rubber band on a Model 12 to keep the grips and Tyler adapter together you did good to spot the nickle on the hammer and trigger.
Will try for sharper pictures after charging camera batteries.

How'd you know about that! Seen the pic somewhere? Actually, the rubber band does not hold the Tyler T-grip to the gun...serves another purpose. Do you know what it is? :D

Because Ivan keeps us broke you can not get an inside the waistband holster and have to carry Mexican style. Adds friction to prevent sliding down a pant leg.
Did see it on a wheel gun site.

Noticed these were on G-B as ramped, will call Phil to advise.

Very good! You got the correct answer...betcha saw that mdl. 12 on the S&W Forum.

That's probably a good idea...save him some potential questions/complaints.

Just got off phone with Ivan, he said it was a factory change to a standard barrel for better feeding.
Also called Phil at Bellshire to let him know, he had only checked the numbers on the box and pistol and had not taken the pistols out of the factory plastic/grease to look at chamber.
We will have to ask someone at the factory about the Chrome/Nickle finishes.

Am on other forum in my alter ego-TnS-------.

Interesting! My ramped barrel .38 Super RIA's (both my shiny one and the parkerized one I had) feed everything I fed them except for Winchester Silver Tip. That includes JHP's from Remington and PMC, and my handloads JHP's using Hornady HTP bullets. Any brand of FMJ Ball type ammo feeds great, as do my handloads with 125 grain cast lead round nose bullets.

Same for my Springfield with the ramped barrel.

My thoughts are based on very limited knowledge specific to only the ones I own(ed) however

We have been working on changing the 38 super back to a non ramped barrel. It is my belief that it will not only function better, The ramp is not needed. Not to say that the ramped barrels you guys have are not worth it, On The contrary! It is just more than you need for a 38 super! I was out of town when they were shipped, Hence the blind side for me as well! ;)
Thanks
Ivan

I always thought fully ramped fed better but the true reason was for case support

especially if you were one of the guys running the super at top end

You would think! But running at the top end is relative...15 YRS ago in IPSC...Yep! Now NOPE. Current loadings of the 38 super for limited class is fine. You cant run a 38 super limited class pistol in major. And yes it will still handle any Factory 38 super that is within SAAMI spec.(Which most are, Unless they are looking for a lawsuit)
Thanks
Ivan

hmmm...I don't make a magnum out of mine either. But, I load'em like they were meant to be...warmer than current factory stuff I've run thru the chronograph. ;)

Maybe I'll need to shoot the "real .38 Super loads" in my original RIA and my Springfield.

I have some 38 super 115gr Hornady HPs that are old school....1600-1700 FPS!!! :p

Good grief, that's moving...I don't do my .38 Super handloads that fast! 124 grain Hornady XTP JHP's at 1373 fps avg. is as fast as I go!

Usually shooting 125 grain cast lead at about 1000.

Back in the old days I loaded the 140 grain speer JHP for my .38 Super. I had(still have) a series 70 Colt with a MMC rear sight. To test these loads I bought a Star AS labeled for .38 Super on the box. Always shot the Star first with out any problems, in fact it shot better than the Colt.
Will have to see if I have any of those loads left and find a chronograph to check them.
