I recently saw a Colt 1911a1 #928706 with slide matching the receiver, and it had british proof marks and grooves in the MSH for a shoulder stock.
It had an idiot scratch that extended up onto the slide (sadly), but otherwise was in very good condition and original. Asking $1200.
This is the first time I have seen grooves for a shoulder stock.
Pretty rare and valuable?

Depends on where the MSH came from, I have one from Cobray.

Since none were originally made that way their use is restricted, the BATF requires the pistol to be fitted with a 16" barrel to be legal, otherwise your on your own and could be charged with a felony. You can buy a kit here for about $145: http://www.e-gunparts.com/DisplayAd.asp?chrProductSKU=588350&chrSuperSKU=&MC=
