All,
I noticed that Midway is selling 1911 parts made by Swenson. Are these quality parts? Are these the same Swenson parts of 20+ years ago?
Thanks,
Ed

Just like most things gun that have a familiar name, the name was probably purchased by someone. Not too many years ago, you could get "Swenson" ambi safeties, and I suspect they'd bought the license to use the name. The last time I heard reference to these safeties, it was a comment on how rough they had become. The Wilson ambi is a ringer for the Swenson, and if I want a safety of that configuration, I'm happy to buy the Wilson part. Since Swenson wasn't really known for any other part, I don't know that the name alone lends much cache. I haven't seen the parts, and will take a look, but they could be just re-named McCormick parts, like a lot of companies use, and they could be something really wonderful (but still probably parts used and labeled by other companies).

I have seen some of thier parts and I am very unimpressed. I would avoid them.

Very cool as I have a Mark IV Series 70 with a Swenson Ambi Safety.

I agree. Armand Swenson was a great intivator of parts for the 1911.
It is too bad that today the current parts sold under the brand name of "Swenson" are of poor quality. I have two "Swenson" thumb safties I purchased from Midway that I will not use.

I was looking for a GI type wide spur hammer and trigger for my WW II GI 1911 Mixmaster (Remington Rand Lower and Colt Upper). Swenson sells one on Midway, but based on the feedback I will look elsewhere.

If you are looking for a WWII hammer check with EGW.
EGW does sell new parts on ebay. EGW parts are top notch.

An employee of mine ordered a Swenson extended slide stop from Brownell's and if it hadn't been for the cost of postage he would've sent it right back immediately. I think I could've beaten out a better-looking piece with nothing but a ball peen hammer.
