Does anyone know of a source for a good quality SS Wide Spur traditional type hammer?
I know Brownells has them in carbon, but not in stainless.

Here you go. (http://www.gunaccessories.com/1911/ValueLine/Hammer.asp) Dunno about the quality (it's their "value line"), but you're looking for a fairly low-demand item and this is the only place I've seen wide spurs in stainless.

I bought one on ebay, a few years ago, and it looked more like jewelry than a gun part, it was so well made and finished. The seller said it was a Wilson Combat part, which it clearly wasn't, but then, this guy claimed every part he sold was a "Wilson part". I sort of took a chance on it, since the seller was disguising the source, but it was really excellent, and dropped right in, to a 3.75# pull in my stainless Colt. I don't tell this story because I now know who made it, but I'm hoping someone who's reading it will think, "Oh, yeah, I remember seeing those, and it's a . . ." I'd like to have another one, if they are still in production.

I will have some stainless wide spur hammers sometime in the near future although I can't say exactly when. They are on back order from the manufacturer.

I've got one of Dave's wide-spur hammers here. Tried to take a picture, but the resolution wouldn't show how really nice it is. I intend to install it along with his sear and give it good wringin' out...and will make a report on it at that time. It's a casting, but looks like a very good casting. I want to see if it'll stand a Tuner Torture Test. :D
I mean...this is a N-I-C-E hammer. Wish I could get a good picture.

How's this? (those are lint boogers, not pits on the hammer) No pics of the stainless hammer yet but it should look just like the carbon steel hammer except for the finish.

I've received several inquiries recently about the stainless steel wide spur hammer so I thought I'd post an update. The manufacturer is busy and still hasn't made any yet. Hopefully I'll have some this summer.
Waiting......NOT patiently! Seriously, thanks for the update. They really look good, I wanna try them on the pistol in the COAL gun.
