Hello all !! First time poster and new member to this site. I look forward to learning from the pro's here, and hopefully can contribute as well.

I would like to start off with a range report on my new stainless Springers I brought home.

Range Report:

1) SS loaded Champion
2) SS loaded Ultra Carry

Just finished up my first outting with both the Champion and the Ultra Carry.
Bought these guns last night and immediately took them home, disassembled them and began to inspect and perform my pre-fire ritual. I inspected all parts, every thing looked okay. Polished the feed ramps and chamber, cleaned and oiled well - cycled slide several hundred times, re-assembled.

At the range I put 100 rounds of WWB through each gun. The Champion operated 100% with no malfunctions at all. This pistol grouped 3" left of POA yet was consistant in grouping with 3" groups at 10/15 yards. All went smoothly even with about 50 rounds of 180gr LSWC / 5.3gr W231 after I completed reliability testing with the WWB. Recoil was about the same as my 5", maybe a little more, but nothing noticable. Sights are great, and the gun fit nicely in my grip. I am very happy with the results of the Champion.

Regarding the U.C. - Same results as I got with the 4" Champion. No malfunctions at all - 100%. Although the frame is smaller than the Champion, the grip was fine, with no noticable "pinky hangover". The UC melted in my hand, for a comfortable fit. Recoil was not noticably stronger than the Champion with very little muzzle flip. The UC function flawlessly, handled great anf shot to POA with 3" groups at 10/15 yards. As with the Champion, I put 50 rounds of 180gr / 5.3gr W231 through the gun after testing with WWB with no issues at all.

In conclusion, both pistols handled well, felt great in my grip, recoil was no issue, and both grouped well at 10/15 yards. I am very satisfied with the fit & finish and overall performance of both the Champion and the Ultr Carry.

The only issue (which is not an issue at this time) I noticed that the extractor dropped in the Ultra Carry with no resistance in the slide. If you turn the slide upside down with the FP stop removed, the extractor will fall out. Although the gun functions properly, no other 1911 I own is like this. Just makes me wonder if this is by design, or a pending issue to be addressed.

Thanks
