I am a newbie to collecting 1911's and have been wanting a US military Colt. I have found one but want to make sure that I am getting a fair deal. I have been trying to research a fair price but wanted to come to the experts for their opinions. Here is some info on it and I have numerous pics. Thanks for the help, Tim

Colt 1911 - it's an arsenal rebuild by AA - Augusta Arsenal appears unshot since rebuild.
1) "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" on the left side of frame
2) "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" on the right side of slide
3) GHS -GILBERT H STEWART monogram on the left side of frame by the mag release button
4) AA - AUGUSTA ARSENAL stamped on the left side of frame above trigger guard area and in front of slide release
5) serial # - No.208XXX on the right side of frame above and left of trigger guard area
6) Barrel stamped HS on the right side by the barrel link area and a P it looks like on the left side same area
7) Two tone orginal mag
8) Arsenal parkerized finish

The average market price for an arsenal rebuild is $500 - $1000, possibly more in some regions. The HS barrel is a high Standard and is WW II vintage, not uncommon for a rebuild, but indicates a rebuild from at least WW II time frame.
