Need help choosing new grips for my SA Operator. I am having the front strap checkered so I can get rid of the wraparound grips. I have a Wilson magwell on it and like the look of traditional grips. I hate the gap between the grip and magwell. Are there any grips that fix this? It is hard to make a choice when all you have to go by is a picture on the internet. I want it to be able to hold up to some abuse. I am leaning toward Mil-tac or Alumagrips. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Obrien

There are lots of grips out there made with a flat bottom for magwells... I believe that all of the grip makers in our sponsor pannel at the top of the screen make quality grips to fit your need... I think your pistol would look good with a set of flat bottom Alumagrips in either black or OD green... Mil tak's are nice too. I would like to get a set for my commander..

Mil-Tac without a doubt. Just be sure you tell Craig it has a magwell. The shape will be slightly diffent on the bottom eliminating the gap.
I have three sets of Mil-Tacs and love em! I just got an Operator last week. I ordered these for mine. The 1* is actually "one a** to risk" :-) The cut next to the mag release really works.

I'm partial to smooth wood panels if you have had the front/back straps checkered -- very classy look and functional... :D

Many good grips all over the place for 1911, but if you want to experiment, go check out the Hogue grip auction website for their seconds -- cheap and with a bit of work and finish you can have some nice panels... :)

Those alumagrips sure are nice, but, man, at twenty degrees or less, they freeze up the hands -- FAST... :nono:
