collet bushings trash barrels??
I mean ,when one of the collet fingers fail from work hardening/metal fatigue,
how does that damage the barrel to replacement??
or this be a range rumor??

If one of the fingers breaks at the wrong place, it might gouge the barrel... You might get lucky and have no problem.... I would also be worried that now there is a piece of metal floating around inside your pistol...... I still have the collet bushings in mine... I like them..

I haven't had one of those break on me but I didn't shoot all that much before I replaced it and the barrel. I'd suspect the breakage is a rare occurance.

Is it possible the damage that may occur is in the removal of the barrel after its all over?? I heard that one too.
or can it jam into the locking lugs? there I can see major damage.
