I have a Para Ordnance P-13. About every 4 shots the gun jams. sometimes it fails to extract, already got a wilson combat extractor to fix that. the failure to feed problem happens because the nose of the bullet either gets stuck on the ramp or the loaded cartridge will be sticking up out of slide. I think I need new mag springs and polish the ramp.when everything is working good it spits casings at my head. what is your opinion of how to fix these issues? am I on the right track. I have not fit the extractor yet.

TKMOORE1026,

You're on the right track. I've worked on a number of P-13s. When they're set up right, they run forever. The Wilson extractor should cure the extraction problem, but you'll still need to tension it properly. Where the casing goes typically depends on the lower radius of the extractor, the ejector nose(some file a slight bevel on the nose to kick the case out at about 2 o'clock) and the ejection port in the slide(look for brass marks in the port area that may indicate the brass is being bounced back into your face). Brownells used to sell mag springs for the wide-body Paras. You cut them to the length you want and they should cure the weak mag spring/nose-down/up problem you're experiencing.

Hope this helps!
