I will be needing a stainless thumb safety,as you can pull the trigger, release it,and drop the safety, and hammer will fall to half cock.this is because I had Nowlins put in their hammer trigger sear into a series 80.
used the old colt safety.
since its a gold cup Ill go top shelf ,but G I style.Recommendations?

Also, who makes slides with the narrow hood cut besides Colts Gold cup??

thanks again,

I beleive Ed Brown makes one, although they are a little pricy. (http://www.edbrown.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.cgi/00406.1.295921309382248391)

First off, Are you planning to replace your slide??? As far as the safety, If Nowlin put in a hammer and sear, and let your gun leave their shop when it is obviously unsafe, I would drop them a line and let them know about their mistake.... Most of the major manufacturers like Wilson, etc. make excelent quality safetys... You can get a Colt one from brownells that will exactly match what is already in your pistol, but hopefully without the slopp....

This was done like 5 years ago,and Ive known about it that long,I just never called them on it ,and I didnt want to send thru the mail again.Because it is a range queen anyways,I never used the thumb safety, but knew someday I would want to fit a new one in there.I surmise there is enough sear escape angle combined with a couple thousandths off the safety to make it slip,
pulling the trigger with safety on=hammer movement is undetectable to the eye,but then you pull the hammer back like .005" and hear the sear re-engage.

The new slide is for a different build which I have a Wilsons bbl narrow hood .
just looking for another use for the bbl besides a spare for the gold cup.
