anyone know if the PermaKote finish is available to do-it-yourselfers? I have airbrush and access to an oven for curing.
Thanks, Tom

Search "Gun Kote" on Brownells.com. They sell several spray-on finishes.

Take a look at their Teflon self-bake products. I use it to match parts to some of my customer's handguns where the match is not quite right. More expensive, but the results have been very good for the times I have used it on small parts (TS, FPS, hammers, etc)...

Never exceed the 300 degree bake point, however -- the results make a chippy aftermath from my experience. I would, however, not recommend any of the spray-ons for complete guns. But then again, I've never tried it. I do have a 'police special' (a 1911 that the local LEO's donated to the shop after it was found in pieces at a rural abandoned farmhouse). Don't panic gentlemen, it wasn't an old Rand wargun, but a Colt gov't from the 1970 and a bit weathered, but it's mine and I will make it a project for experimentation with the Brownell teflon bake spray...

I'll post A picture after it's done if I can stand trying up my PC with this dial-up connection...
