I was just curious if anyone has ever used this product for refinishing a 1911. I used it for an SAR-1 once (Romanian AK), and was pleased with the results. Its very simple to apply, goes on light, and doesn't require you trick your wife into letting you use the stove (cures at room temp).

Using it for an entire gun or receiver you may find it will chip and peal. I have used it for covering checkering of 1911 aluminum frames if the customer doesn’t want it to be re anodized and it seems to hold up ok but wears rather quickly as it sees a lot of friction from the shooters hand.

Gun Kote is a much better solution IMO, but it must be applied to a very clean and properly degreased surface. It is an epoxy coating and can only be removed with abrasives, but it will take a lot of abuse. Color choices are excellent.

Just my .02.
