John- have you ever decided the number of posts to go from junior to member? I'm over 40 now & still "junior"!

It takes 45 (ACP) posts to go from "junior" to "member". :)

Although if we follow in logical progression, the next best gun model after 1911 is the STI/SVI platform's "2011"

That's what Mr. Skinner likes to believe.

I am not very fond of double-column 1911s, and STI is certainly one of the ugliest. I wouldn't call it an improvement over the good, old 1911.

Dave's STI's, Sandy's SVI's, and of course Chip and Virgil might disagree all around :) BTW, Dave didn't invent the design, he just owns one of the two competing companies that came out of the big three's split.

It is really hard to NOT like a pistol that runs just like a 1911, is as accurate as a 1911, has controls just like a 1911, is lighter than a 1911, and is only 1/8" larger in grip circumference than a 1911 YET holds at least twice as many rounds (my STI Commander in 9 by 23 is a 19-shooter ;) ).

I have a single-stack grip adaptor for the STI platform...now that is just pure fun to show up with at a "single stack" match...

I get your point, but still I do not like it. It's not because of functional deficiences, but of aesthetics. I just find them ugly. AND THEY ARE HALF-TUPPERWARE! LoL

By the way, was it Virgil Tripp who invented it the STI thing?

I can get behind the half-tupperware thing. That is almost like...half Glock... (where is the pukey-emoticon when you need it?)

Strayer-Tripp International...STI...

Although I've been working on fitting ivory grip slabs to a STI plastic grip...lipstick on a pig...I mean, what a fun project!
