Thought I would get your opinion of a 1918 Colt 1911 frame, flat MSH, long trigger, w/ Ithaca slide arsenal rework. It is 100% since rework, in the kraft box, one of those sold to NRA members, 1965 paperwork on box. Looks like it has never been out of the box. What would be a reasonable price for a gun like this?

Certainly not what is being asked for it on GunsAmerica.... he has been trying to sell for quite some time..... originally he was asking over $2K, and representing it a little differently....

I could never figure out why an Augusta Arsenal gun, correctly marked 'AA' was shipped from Anniston Arsenal, as per his paper work....???? Something smells.....

Yeah, got his phone #, talked to a female, she said he is gone on an errand. Over 3 hours, and still no return call.

Anniston likely refinished the pistol for the DCM/NRA sale, unless the pistols AA stamps are applied after the finish. Large numbers of the NRA/DCM pistol were refinished prior to their sale and many umarked by the depot/arsenal. Anniston was one of the larger distribution points for the sale of those pistols.
And early Anniston rebuild marks, which were AN, are scarse it seems, the most common ones found are from the mid 70s that have ANAD with a mo/yr stamp. Locally those pistols sell in the $1000 - $1400 range, complete with the box and paperwork.
