Well, this is my first post here, and I'd post pics if I could figure it out...
From a collection last week, I purchased a 1918 original 1911 brushed blue-black, 95%+, half-blue magazine w/o lanyard loop, and a 1942 Colt original finish parkerized, with matching slide, with "C-L" marked mag, but with post war commercial barrel, also 95%+.
These pistols also came with what I originally thought was a near-mint Ace conversion, but with closer research, it appears to be an upper unit. Slide is marked identically to #SM13345 shown on Coltautos.com. Does not say conversion anywhere on it, is parkerized, has no sn under the firing pin stop or on top in front of the slide. Has the adjustable sight. No milled "Keyhole notch" at six oclock below the firing pin hole in slide. Barrel is blue.
I'd be interested in your thoughts about the Ace upper, and I'd be in the market for a WWII barrel in excellent condition.
