I asked Taurus about dates for the two tone gun, railed gun and the Commander-length. I got no clear answers, but it's just as well - last year at SHOT 06 the dates they gave for the introduction of the PT1911 were off by miles.

Sorry!

A freind of mine at the Shot Show went and quizzed Taurus. He also brought home the official 2007 New Products folder. There are no models other than 45 ACP and no models other than full sized, 5" 1911s to be produced this year.
My hopes were for a stainless compact but, this will not happen.
Release in Spring for the full size stainless and Fall for the two toned models, railed models and aluminum alloy framed models.
Yeah, alum alloy model....this is my next purchase, perhaps.
Please post back with any questions about new models per Taurus brochure.

Any way you can scan the brochure and post the pics?

Full-size stainless in spring? Guess I'll save that money I've been putting away just a lil' bit longer.

And in my case, now I can spend the money on the CZ P-01 I'm looking at or the S&W M&P Compact as I am only interested in the stainless compact! At the rate they actually release items I've got a least 1.5 years to save up enough again so that should be no problem. Or maybe another makers compact, I'll have to look.

Guys, be careful trusting the '07 catalog. Taurus had guns in the '05/06 catalogs that they never even built. I had three customers wanting to order the Taurus Triad revolver, and I kept getting further dates (just like with the PT1911) every time I'd call. Finally I called and asked them when they would be released and the lady said, "Oh, they're not." Ummm, excuse me? She said there wasn't enough interest in them, so they didn't build them. Then why put it in the catalog as an orderable item??
I think Taurus is getting ahead of themselves on new product development. The .223REM Raging Bull they had at SHOT was awesome, but they told me they would only sell it if there was enough interest. I wish they'd concentrate on ONE GUN, GET IT DONE, GO TO THE NEXT ONE.
Ugh, sorry - I had to vent. Taurus has been making me very unhappy as of late.

I agree, Taurus needs to knock off the day dreaming and concentrate on building a complete line of 1911 full size and compacts with the proper CQ to make the $500 pistols a bargin not a comprimize...then they won't be able to build enough of them - they wouldn't need anther new model for a while!

I could scan it but, it is 12 pages in length. The result would be an enourmous file.
Anyway, I share the dissapointment with dblagent in that I really , really, really wanted the stainless compact that Taurus HAD on their website for several months....to bait all of us.

I also, am getting fed up with their 'feinting' and putting up false stuff on their website and getting our hopes up.

A very good choice. :)

However, I'd be happy with the full size stainless PT 1911 as I already have the P-01.

well i talked to christian over there ( i had to send mine back ) and i asked about the different styles coming out and he said they have to stop recieving repair jobs on them first before the start building different models.
