Have any of you ever been to the Shot Show? If so, what is it like. I have only read about it, have never been myself.

I love going to gun shows and the like. The best I had ever been to is the Greatest Show on Earth gun show. It was always held at the L.A. County Fair grounds in Pamona, CA. It ran three days and had over 5,000 tables! It took me an entire day just to do a cursory walk through. It was paradise. But alas, it was in California and the county of L.A. decided it did not want gun shows to be held there and banned them. The promoter has been fighting the ruling since 1997, but he lost in the courts. My favorite gun show is no more. They tried it in Vegas but by the time they reorganized they lost there exhibitor base. I'm glad I moved to Ohio.

What is your favorite gun show?

The SHOT Show is a great place to go see every gun and shooting-related gizmo under the sun. You just can't really buy anything there. Well, on the last day a few of the exhibitors might sell off their display model holsters, hunting clothes, and such, but certainly not the firearms!

There are also free samples of small stuff like gun oil, earplugs, etc. given away. Not enough to merit the trip by themselves, but if you were wanting to go to someplace warm like Vegas or Orlando this time of year anyhow, it's something to do.

That's interesting, never thought of not buying anythin. That's the best part! LOl

Can anyone go or do you have to be a dealer?
I guess if you had to go to Vegas, it would be worth it to time it up at the same time the show is.

Any FFL dealer can get you a pass, maybe a Curio & Relic licensee too. Or you can see about going as a member of the press, if you have a gun related website--or just moderate on one, perhaps. Point is, it's not that hard to get in, if you plan slightly ahead of time.

Gun store owners I shop with have gotten me a pass, listing me in their "Sales" or "Service" department. It's not really a bad thing, as I actually look at some new products on the FFL holder's behalf (I even take notes!), so they can spend their time at the show writing up orders with the distributors, and other such legit business. It's a good deal for all parties.
