Just picked up my first pony ...however I have an issue/ question. The magazine release is very good but when inserting a mag it seems to hang up a bit on the internal lip inside the magwell. Is this normal for a defender. I have tried the colt mags and a Wilson officers OX model. If you push a little harder the mag will go in ....it just seems a lot harder than my other 1911's . It is almost like the tab inside is sticking out too far. Any help would be appreciated. Floyd Will post pics later

There may be a small burr on the magazine release. keep in mind a brand new pistol will be a little snug. I may would detail strip it and check out the magazine release, or you can just remove the magazine release and check it out.
Nice choice and I look forward to the pictures.

Yep it is snug and I have had my trusty flashlight out to see the lip on it and it looks unburred but maybe it is just a new gun and is still just needing some cycling? I will post pics tomorrow , tired right now tho. Thanks hunter Floyd

It might just need to be used some. Try her out a few range trips and see how she does. Those magazine release springs can be snug, you would not want your magazine falling out.

Vashooter, my Defender is a tad snug as well...just takes a bit more push than some of my other Colts to seat the magazine. It has loosened up just a bit with use, and I suspect it's just not broken in yet. Sounds like Hunter has the best idea--give it some range time! Looking forward to the pics. Congratulations!

HeHeheehee no chance of it falling out...it is tight!! the problem is when putting a mag in. It seems a little harder than normal, but I do not see any marks on the mag lip or any dents or scratches, so maybe it is just SNUG . I was hoping a defender owner had some insight as to what their's was like new. Thanks Floyd

I got my Defender 2 months ago and have really enjoyed it. Let us know how it shoots, mine shot approx. 8" low at 15 yards. I am looking at installing AmeriGlo adjustable night sights on it.
P.S.
Don't forget to duck. mine would throw an occassional empty brass back in your face. Seems to be less often now.

Be sure and check the tightness of the rear sight set screw before you go to the range--I lost one on mine! And, the set screws on the same type of sights on both of my XSE Commanders were not all that snug either. Haven't had any trouble with it loosening since I installed the replacement, though.

Thanks guys I will do a strip and clean/ relube before it hits the range and I will check the set screws in the sights beforehand. I will post a range report here later on this weekend. Floyd
