Hello all and happy holidays. I am new poster, this being my first post on this site. I have been shooting in IPSC for 2 years now and am getting ready to have a limited division .40 built for me. I have been shooting an STI Edge for this whole time and have been very happy with it but would like to have a more personalized gun to suit my needs. I have narrowed the gunsmith who would build it down to 3 choices and would like to get input from any members who own a gun from one of these 3. My choices are Benny Hill, Dave Dawson, or EGW. I have had nothing but good dealings with Dave Dawson but am very impressed with some of the pics of work done by the other 2. I realize that I will be waiting for a while but I think it is worth it if I can find the right person for the job. I should mention that I am a real stickler for fit and finish so any input on this would be appreciated as well. I want a gun that is going to run as close to 100% as possible and have heard that this is Benny Hill's real skill but am open to the other 2 as well because I have seen great work by them. Thanks in advance for any input and would love to see more pics if you have them of your gun by one of these 3.

My preferred choice is Ken Crawley, Crawley Custom, but I'm biased. :P (He also builds the best.)

Oh, you just want one of those three... Hehe. Honestly, I'd have to vote for George out there at EGW. Then again, I don't know the other two, but I've worked with alot of George's components there from EGW and it is top quality gear.

I'd have to go along with Deacon Aegis....but then, I'm biased as well. Ken Crawley of Crawley Custom is one of our sponsors and a truly great person (there's a link at the top of this page). You might want to do some telephone inquiries and see what kind of prices you're talking about, it that's of any concern. I've certainly heard good things about the one's you've mentioned, but have no personal knowledge of their work. Welcome to the Forum!

Heya bro, going to go shooting Monday or Tuesday. Gonna join or do you actually just hate me? I know over the past five months there had to be at least one day, yep one day must have worked out. Hehe :P

A buddy of mine has two Benny Hill guns, and they are very nice. Good looking, and they run well.
I like the idea of having my 'smith close to home, so I don't have to worry about shipping it back and forth if there are any issues; are there any 'smtihs with good reps in your neck of the woods?.

I am in the same boat, I want to have a Limited gun built for USPSA. I sent Benny Hill a e-mail, asking for a quote, just before Christmas and did not hear from him. Day before yesterday I got a return receipt that stated that my e-mail had been deleted without being read. I don't know if it was an accident that it was deleted...or what. I will try one more time.

I have a 9x23 built by EGW and it is a beautiful pistol. The workmanship is excellent and shooting from my Ransom Rest it has shot many groups below an inch and a couple just a hair larger than a 1/2". To be truthful, it never occurred to me, until now, to get a quote from EGW. I was considering Hill, Dawson. and Brazo.

If you haven't already decided, give Matt Gish a call. 319-766-2048
I've been "trading" with Matt for sometime and he is a fantastic gunsmith. The best part about dealing with him is that you get a direct line of comunication. You will not be disappointed!

Does Dettelhouser @ Canyon Creek do complete builds? I like his work that I have seen. If you're resigned to your list of three, then go with EGW.
